Quiz Central/Class Notes

I have double-weight score quizzes in English and PAP English today.  Be sure to bring something to work on after you finish.  PAP will need to work on the compare/contrast paragraph about The Phantom Tollbooth novel and dramatic adaptation.

Note:  If you’re planning to be in PAP ILA (Integrated Language Arts) next year, then you need to read Jordan Sonnenblick’s Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie before school begins August 27.  If you know a student who is planning to be in sixth grade PAP ILA, then he or she needs to read Gary Paulsen’s My Life in Dog Years.  Take care, and God bless!

Monday afternoon – May 21 and Tuesday morning – May 22 [You are only eligible for a retake if you attend one of the correction tutorials and get your test signed by a parent/guardian.]

Class Notes – May 15, 2012

You will have to save your Cougar Geographic at school and turn it in to me electronically.  It is due Thursday, May 17, 2012, and it’s a major grade.  I am handing back tests from Shipwreck at the Bottom of the World, chapters five through eight tomorrow in class.  I’ll post the correction/retake schedule tomorrow before I leave the building.  Good night.

Cougar Geographic Magazine

We are typing the final drafts of our Cougar Geographic Magazine projects in class on Monday and Tuesday of this week.  They are due on Thursday for a major grade in my English and PAP English classes.  Make sure that you take care of business during class time!  Be good!

Shipwrecked!

Please bring your copy of Shipwreck at the Bottom of the World to English class whether you are in my on-level or Pre-AP class.  We will be using the book in class all next week, May 7-11.  If you do not have a copy, I will have a class set available for you to use.  Take care, God bless, and be good!

February 15 at 3:35 P.M.  – I have a meeting after school, so this one is cancelled.  Sorry!  You’ll have to come in on Thursday morning at 7:55 A.M. with your corrections already made so that I can quickly check them off and mark you as being eligible for the retake.

Update on Extra-Credit Assignment

You will have to check the video archive on the Dallas Morning News site.  You have a choice now:  NASA Sending a Probe into the Sun or “Study Shows Women are Much Safer Drivers Than Men.”  I’ll give you an extension to Monday, January 30.

1.  Login to Dallas Morning News.

2.  Look at left hand side menu and find NewsVideo.

3.  Click on “Discussion prompts and video archive”

4.  Scroll past current video and find topic “NASA to Send Probe into Sun”

5.  Watch it and  write your paragraph about it.

6.  Turn in to me on Monday, January 30, 2012, by 4:00 P.M. [Slid under my door if the light is off since I have a meeting.]
