Baseball in April

We read “Baseball n April” by Gary Soto in my ILA classes today, and my social studies students worked on their questions for Deborah Ellis’ The Breadwinner. I gave directions for the Afghan culture quilt square which will be due on Friday, April 27. My beginning band and orchestra students will miss school for either all or part of the day. The hallways will be strange without them.

ILA – Independent Reading!

In ILA, we received a handout that will be used as we complete independent reading assignments throughout the school year. I have provided an electronic copy for your perusal.  We covered an excerpt from Wendelin Van Draalen’s book Flipped and analyzed the difference in points of view for two protagonists. Students will have a quiz covering parts of speech next week, so looking at my language arts resources at the grammar cards would be a great start.
