For those of my students who will not sleep well until they read the real fairy tale “The Little Mermaid,” I have attached it here. Enjoy, and don’t say I didn’t warn you about how things turned out differently than the Disney adaptation. That’s right; there are no singing fish or angry chefs chasing a hermit crab in Hans Christian Andersen’s tale.

I have read twenty-six books during the summer break so far and am working on the twenty-seventh one as we “speak.” My reading time and amount will slow down once school starts, but I thoroughly enjoyed losing myself in a good story. I’ll see you at schedule pick-up. More anon.

My yearly total of books read so far is ninety-four. If I finish six more before school starts, I will make my goal.
