Practice Before Test on Friday!

Here is a little practice before the test on Friday.  This only covers part of the material, however.  More to come tomorrow.  Study for your science test!  This quiz is just meant to be an extra practice, but the one I put together for the six weeks test (See above post) is the one you should do first!

Test on Friday!

We will have our first major test in both my on-level and PAP English classes on Friday, September 23.   I will hand out a review midweek, and we’ll check it before the test. Did you know that Friday is the autumnal equinox?  That means the day and night will be twelve hours equally; it signals the start of autumn and shorter days and cooler temperatures.  I am so proud of the Cowboys’ win this afternoon!  Take care, and have a great evening, dear ones!

Quiz on Wednesday

I want them to identify the prepositional phrases on their quizzes tomorrow.  Look at the following sentence as an example.

Birds of prey fly south for the winter.

They would put parentheses ( ) around the prepositional phrases in the sentence so that it looks like this:

Birds (of prey) fly south (for the winter). The prepositions of and for are fairly common.  Don’t overlook them!  I hope this helps.  Have a good evening!

Big Grammar Test Retake

I handed back the tests yesterday in class.  If you were absent, please pick it up from my absent work folder.  The correction tutorial will be on Monday, May 23 at 8:10 A.M.  Bring in your signed and corrected original test.  The test will be administered on Thursday, May 26, at 8:10 A.M.  If you do not attend on Monday morning, then you will not be eligible for the retake on Thursday.  Take care, and God bless, dear ones!

Grammar Test

You will receive your review on Monday for a test we are taking on Wednesday.  I am reviewing your grammar skills that we have been covering for the past couple of weeks. If you have paid attention, then you should be in good shape.  We will check our comma work first then have work time for the review.  Remember that I am heavy on applications of grammar and not the definitions.  I want to see that you know what you are doing.  Semester exams will take place from June 1-3, so start reviewing your science IN and social studies ISN now in preparation.  Waiting until the last minute is stressful for you, and stress is the last thing you need right now.  Take care, dear ones!
