New header picture

This is a picture of an apple pie I baked around Thanksgiving time last year.  I am thinking autumnal thoughts and looking forward to some cooler temperatures.  We will work on dependent clauses and annotation in class today.  Be ready, dear ones!  Many thanks to all who wished me a happy birthday.  I really appreciated the warm sentiments.

Last breaths of summer

I have enjoyed my time reading books and spending time with my family.  They are the most precious gift I have apart from my salvation from the Lord Jesus Christ.  I attend two workshops this week and then start the process of working in my classroom next week.  I look forward to meeting my new students at Cougar Camp; my “old” students are still dear to me and can stop by to say hello.

It’s time to dig in

We now begin the last two six weeks’ grading periods.  Please maintain your focus and keep turning in your work on time.  Parents are happy, your teachers and I stay happy, and you are happy because you have more free time.  It’s a win-win situation for all.  We will do some different work with sentences now that we have worked with structure and our parts of speech.  Be ready to dazzle me on Thursday during our poetry reading time.  Take care, be good, and God bless.

Something old, something new

Be ready for a new semester and some new ideas on Tuesday.  We begin my really cool project and my Pre-AP students should bring their copies of Walk Two Moons on that day.  You’ll notice something new about my bulletin board outside of my classroom.  We’ll refresh our memories about diagramming sentences for the something old part.  Be ready to rock and roll, dear ones.

Tuesday Tribune

I’ve baked the cornbread for the dressing I’ll prepare on Thursday morning, and my laundry and iron stand completely done.  I am reading two new books currently, and they are both good reads.  If you’re in my Pre-AP classes, then know that you will have a vocabulary test and novel test during the week of November 30.  I hope you reread the story of Mattie Cook!  If you’re in one of my on-level classes, get ready to have some fun when we get back.  I won’t reveal what’s happening, but I have some cool plans in store for you.  Take care, dear ones.

Grey Days

I hope you are safe and warm inside today, and I hope all of my dear ones relish sleeping in on Monday morning.  Remember me while I am at work, and be kind on Tuesday, May 5, when we see one another again.  Your most recent grades should be posted, and the interim progress report period ends on May 8, so take care of any late or missing work for all of your classes.  Take care, dear ones, and I will see you on Tuesday unless you catch me on my Sonic run this afternoon between 2:00 and 4:00 P.M.  I will need my diet cranberry limeade, and my son will require his tater tots once again.

Sno Cone Lady

Here is her location:

8760 John Elliott Frisco, TX – street near Frisco Library

Business hours are Monday thru Friday 2:00pm til 10:00pm Saturday and Sunday 3:00 until 10:00 P.M.  She is closed on stormy rainy days.  She plans to open on Wednesday, April 15.  One of my all-time favorite flavors is Rock ‘n’ Roll.  Which one(s) do you prefer?  Leave a comment and let me know.  Take care, dear ones, and I will see you in class tomorrow.

The Great Cell Phone Hunt

Mr. J and I are looking for a new cell phone, and we’ve got AT&T.  No, we won’t change companies, but I’d like to hear your suggestions and ideas.  You can show me your phone after school one day, and let’s chat.  Thanks, babies!
