Organization Time!

On Friday, August 11, we took time to organize our notebooks aka binders. Students were asked to bring in five dividers. Here are the names for those labeling at home.

  1. Introduction
  2. Americas
  3. Europe
  4. Africa
  5. Asia

Our course has ten units, so we will put our notes for each unit under one of the five categories where it belongs. Thanks to the more than 90 percent who took care of business on Friday. Woohoo!

DOL – Week 6

Semester exams

The fall semester exam schedule was sent home through computer literacy and/or study skills.  Please check so that you’ll know where to find your student.  If during locker cleanout time I discover unwanted novels, I keep those for my library collection.  I’ve updated my reference tab, so check it out.  Please take care, and study carefully!

Letters to Mrs. J

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the letters about my students’ plans for the break whether they celebrate Christmas or not.  Some of the more fanciful tales made me laugh.  It is my wish that all could live in harmony, especially at this time of year.    Today finds me cleaning house outside then inside in preparation for my out-of-town family and my in-town family.  I’ll be cooking dinner on Friday for my parents and youngest sister.  Enjoy and savor the rest of your Christmas holiday break, dear ones.  I will see you soon enough.

Old magazine drive

I am in the process of collecting old magazines that you don’t want in your home.  Please ask permission from Mom and Dad before discarding their glossies.  If you would get them to me by Tuesday, September 8, I will be in your debt.  Thank you so much!  Take care, and enjoy your evening.

Last day of school

“The time has come,” the walrus said. . .

I cannot believe that my babies are moving on to seventh grade after today.  As some of my students can attest, it makes  me a little teary-eyed to let them go.  I have enjoyed working with, encouraging, nagging like a mother (or father) when necessary, and loving my students.  I had a great group this year, and I am proud of them.

Dear ones, remember that it’s okay to say hello when you see me out and about at the Snow Cone Lady or the mall.  I won’t bite (too hard).  Please take care, and enjoy your summer.  Take advantage of the Half Price Books reading club that I mentioned before your exam.  If you’re going to be in Pre-AP English, read The Giver by Lois Lowry at least twice (now and then closer to the school year). Impress your new English teacher with some dialectical journaling about figurative language.

I believe in you!  You can be the person you want to be.  I love you, darlings.  Be good!
