Sentence Structure Notes and Practice

Today in my ILA classes, we took notes on sentence structure. I gave the students an assignment to complete about simple and compound sentences. On the back side of the worksheet, we had to identify independent and dependent clauses. We’ll classify them tomorrow in class. The key to success is effort. Here is the link to the Google Slide presentation I showed in class today as a refresher. I also included a link to the worksheet we did in class as homework.

Story Board – “The Fun They Had”

Today in ILA, we worked on bringing Isaac Asimov’s classic science fiction short story “The Fun They Had” to life with visuals. Students were asked to illustrate the elements of plot including the exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. I have included the link to the directions below. I hope this helps. Have a great weekend. Be kind, and do good!

My Sad Little Grade Book

I have had several students absent or missing work over the past few days. As a result, my grade book is sad because there are holes in it. Holes that mean missing work. Please come in to see me if your parents received an email about absent and/or late work. My door is open at 7:55 A.M. I will be there even if I have stepped away for a moment. PLEASE come in to take care of your missing work. Thank you.

Research Project

We’ve been working on an embedded assessment of researching an object that has changed over time. The students are using Chromebooks as they cite their information and images to create a written and visual presentation for the project.
